Organizing Authority
The event is organized by the Sailing Club “Velaclub Palermo” under the authority of FIV, Italian
Sailing Federation, and overall authority of the World Sailing.
2. Rules
2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
2.2 Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42, will apply.
2.3 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.
3. Advertising
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
4. Eligibility
4.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the PLATU25 Class.
4.2 All crew members must be member of a club affiliated to a national authority of the ISAF.
4.3 At least one crew member of a boat shall be a member of a National Platu25 Class Association.
4.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and sending the required fee and
required documents, to info@velaclubpalermo.it
4.5 The following documents shall be sent via e-mail
- Copy of Measurement Certificate
- Copies of club membership cards or national federation membership cards or Italian Sailing
licenses for all crewmembers.
-Copy of the legitimacy for competitors advertising (Italian boats only)
-Copy of the legitimacy of the national Platu25 class association membership for at least on crew
member.
-Copy of the third-party liability insurance

6. Fees
Required fees are as follows: Entry fee: Euro 500 per boat
The entry fee shall be paid after entering, even if the entry is cancelled later on or the boat
does not show up.

7. Schedule
7.1 Measurement , measurement cerfificate and documents check
Sunday September 24th from 10:00 to 18:00
Monday September 25th from 10:00 to 18:00

8. Measurement
8.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.
8.2 The measurement certificate checks and the measurement checks will take place in the
marina
8.3 Boats may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules, the notice of race
and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a race committee
equipment inspector or measurer to proceed immediately to a designated area for
inspection.
9. Sailing Instructions
9.1 A draft version of the sailing instruction will be available before the event on the official
WC-Homepage.
9.2 The sailing instructions will be available at registration at the race office.
10. Courses
10.1 The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Up-and-Down and Coastal Race. The detailed
diagrams of the courses to be sailed will be described in the sailing instructions.
11. Penalty System
11.1 Decisions of the international jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.
12. Scoring
12.1 5 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her
race scores. (b) When from 5 to 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the
total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (c) When 8 or more races have been
completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst
scores.
13. Support and Coach Boats
13.1 Support and Coaches Boats shall be registered at the Race Office before the beginning of the
event and comply with the Support Boat Regulation for the regatta.
13.2 Support and Coaches Boats will be part of the security arrangement for the event.
13.3 Support and Coaches Boats will not be permitted within the race course during racing.
14. Berthing
14.1 Mooring places will be assigned in order of receipt of registrations.
14.2 Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the harbour.
14.3 All boats shall be afloat before September 25 / 18:00.
15. Haul-Out Restrictions
15.1 Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except in case of damages, with and according
to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee.
15.2 During the regatta launching and hauling will be organized by the Club.
16. Radio communication
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive
radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile
telephones.
17. Equipment supplied by the Organizing Authority
Competitors may be required to carry on-board cameras, sound equipment and positioning
equipment on their boats supplied by the Organizing Authority
19. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The
organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
20. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance including
the coverage of risks at regattas, with a minimum cover of Euro 1‘500‘000 per incident or
the equivalent. Each boat shall be able to show proof of insurance coverage at registration.
